To achieve community empowerment, if a project leader is from outside the community then they are challenged to walk along side a community leader with whom they are to pass the baton of their leadership and skills over to.

Our Accomplishments so far:

The following services have been started within the past 5 years within Zandspruit, to assist the community:

Served 98,000+ meals through Emthonjeni in 2006
21 Community paid workers and 7 are leading their projects
The After School Care cares for between 200 children, five days a week, tutoring, arts, recreation, personal development and providing nutrition.
The Golang project provides fortified breakfasts before school for between 170 children, school uniforms, school fees, educational outings and weekend camps.
An Antenatal clinic at Zandspruit is also providing weekly medication, vitamins and a meal to over 2400 moms-to-be annually. Here they also receive comprehensive education and care in HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
15 Projects in the areas of Medical, Child and Adult Education, Recreation and Job Creation
Growing stronger in quality and market with our Women’s sewing club which employs 42+ women from community and where needlework skills, the making of Greeting Cards and beadwork is taught.
The Dependable Strengths programme helps job seekers discover their own strengths to prepare them for a job interview.
The youth of Zandspruit have developed their talents of dance and drama into an income-producing group called PHYCS, by providing tourists with an African experience in the life and cultural richness of Zandspruit.
Architectural plans are approved for an African village model in KwaNdebele which is currently under construction.
2 Computer Training Centres for adults and children, where they are trained in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows and general office practices.
Art School – a community artist shares her new skills by teaching art to the children from the centre.
Library – Children’s books are kept in a library for reading.
Leadership Development – Leaders from the Zandspruit Community are mentored, motivated in interpersonal skill development and raising entrepreneurs.
Tested the eyes of all 1300 children at Masakhane Primary School, Zandspruit and we are planning to launch a weekly eye clinic.
A new kitchen container for food preparation.
Started a boy’s soccer club, girl’s netball team & cycling team this year with competitors in the 94.7 cycle race
A General container for the Job Creation Programme has been established
Security and burglarproofing upgrade.
